5 Things Every IT Administrator Should Keep in Mind!

October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month.

For all of us working behind our clients’ IT infrastructures, it’s a great opportunity for a quick security check.

5 things every IT administrator should keep in mind…

  1. Backup ≠ Security

Backups are critical, but they don’t protect you from ransomware if the backup itself is exposed. Use immutable backups.

  2. MFA everywhere!
Even the simplest services (email, remote access, management portals) should have MFA. It’s the easiest measure with the highest impact.

  3. Network segmentation
One misconfigured VLAN can open the door to your entire infrastructure.
Pay attention to how networks communicate with each other.

  4. Non-Stop Patches
With vulnerabilities constantly increasing, automation and continuous monitoring are essential. Without a proper updating process, it’s only a matter of time before an issue arises.

  5. User Awareness
Humans remain the weakest link. One wrong click can undo everything. Use user training platforms or organize workshops.
